Meeting of the Steering Group Dresden Region 2 February 2026
The Dresden region's network is growing on the way to becoming a municipal association
As part of a double meeting of the 37th Conference of Mayors of the Dresden Experience Region and the 2nd meeting of the Dresden Region Steering Group on February 2, 2026, further steps for inter-municipal cooperation in the region were agreed at Dresden City Hall.
A key outcome of the meeting was the inclusion of nine municipalities as advisory members of the temporary steering group, which is preparing the foundation of the planned Dresden Region municipal association. This puts the entire founding process on a broad footing and lays the foundation for the strategic development of the municipal association.
The following cities are now represented as partners in the network:
Bautzen, Bischofswerda, Dippoldiswalde, Freiberg, Großenhain, Hoyerswerda, Kamenz, Neustadt in Sachsen and Riesa
In addition, the city of Bautzen was elected as an advisory member of the Dresden region working group. This committee is responsible for the operational management of the overall project to establish the association.
The integration of the new players serves the goal of further pooling the strengths of the state capital Dresden and the neighboring municipalities in order to jointly support the development of the region.
